                                          Discover Oshawa’s heritage

Visit the Heritage Oshawa display at the Oshawa Centre February 25-26

 

 In celebration of Heritage Week in Ontario, Oshawa’s Municipal Heritage Committee will host a display at the Oshawa Centre on Friday, February 25, 12 - 9 and Saturday, February 26 from 11 - 4 The display will be located near Purdy’s Chocolates.

 The display includes informative and entertaining heritage related material, as well as exhibits from several community partners, including Oshawa Community Museum, Oshawa Public Libraries (Saturday only) and The Robert McLaughlin Gallery. In addition, on Friday, Philip Hulaj’s rare collection of locally produced art deco Smith Pottery will be on display.

 In addition, regional partner exhibits include Clarington Museums & Archives, Durham Region Branch - Ontario Genealogical Society, Scugog Shores Museums and Visual Arts Centre of Clarington.

 Heritage Week in Ontario takes place each February and is led by the Ontario Heritage Trust. In 2011, Heritage Week will occur from February 21-27.

You are invited to the Grand Opening Celebration of the UOIT's Downtown Campus, March the 8th at 9:30 a.m.
At the time there will be the unveiling of the Heritage Designation Plaque for the Regent Theatre.



Doors Open 2010, September 25th & 26th
Doors Open Oshawa is a free event showcasing our Heritage Buildings throughout the City.

As part of the opening of the CHEX TV studio at 12 Simcoe St. N. there will be a street festival from 2 o'clock until 6. Simcoe Street from King St. to Bond St. will be closed during this time. Lots of activities and music ........


Come and visit the Regent Theatre. UOIT has opened the theatre after extensive renovation. Showing both days from 12:00 to 2:00 is a silent film, made by Ewart McLaughlin in 1928. This 26 minute film is about everyday Oshawa.
