What is a Heritage Plaque Program?
The Heritage Plaque Program is in recognition of Oshawa’s history. The program is designed to identify and showcase the architecturally and historically significant resources in our community.
Owners are offered an opportunity to place a plaque on their heritage buildings.
Who can be considered for a Plaque?
You can be considered for a plaque if:
- Your property is listed on Heritage Oshawa Inventory List
- Your property has historical and/or architectural significance
The heritage plaque does not mean a historic designation under the Heritage Act. The plaque identifies your home or building as part of Oshawa’s rich heritage but is not accompanied by any conservation benefits, restrictions or regulations. A heritage plaque does not restrict the use of the property nor impose obligations or undue expenses to maintain the property. It does not restrict the sale of the property nor enable public access to private property.
Costs to You?
There will be a nominal fee applied to offset the costs of the purchase and installation of your Heritage Plaque.
This cast bronze plaque will be wall mounted in a prominent location on the building.
Take Part and Take Pride in Your Heritage!
